Gunman Opens Fire at Florida School Board Meeting

Print Email Share Comments (78) Text Size PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- A gunman opened fire during a Florida Panhandle school board meeting, but it wasn't immediately known if there were fatalities or injuries.

According to a WMBB reporter at Tuesday's meeting, the man came up to the podium at the Bay District School Board meeting and said that he had a motion. He then pulled out a can of red spray paint and painted a "V" with a circle around it.

Reporter Nadeen Yanes told her station that he then pulled a handgun and started talking.

School Board member Ginger Littleton struck the gunman with her purse and he pushed her to the ground and started firing randomly.

Yanes and other persons in attendance at the meeting ran outside as police entered the building.

Police confirmed that a shooting confirmed but had no further information.



Would not surprise me to have this happen here in Wise County.

There's some crazies around here at these meetings, but I don't think they're this crazy. I was about to post this and didn't see the thread, but here's a link with the story and video of the incident, it's really wild. They shot him in the leg, then he later turns the gun on himself. Full video of it, I'd embed it but you have to log in on youtube because of the content. Apparently he wife was a teacher? and was fired, so he decided to do this, the chairman was really sort of a hero in this.
